From tissue culture to treetop canopies… from the laboratory to World Heritage
In an era defined by climate crisis and environmental degradation, planting a tree is no longer just about greening the land — it is an act of planting hope, of cultivating resilience, and of restoring a future we all share.
The pursuit of knowledge and alliances to expand our planet’s green cover has long been at the core of our mission. This recent journey to Malaysia marked a defining milestone for the delegation from Arabian Peninsula Forests (APF), YAK GREEN Co., Ltd. (Thailand), and DMELL Global, as we visited the renowned Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM). There, we saw hope take root — tangibly, meaningfully, and scientifically.

### Rooted in Science: Growing the Future of the Planet
Following our witness role in the signing of a groundbreaking international collaboration in support of the Saudi Green Initiative — uniting APF, FRIM, and DMELL Global — our delegation began its site visit at Pusat Biousahawan Bioteknologi (CBB), FRIM’s flagship plant tissue culture center.
Guided by Dr. Siti Suhaila A.R., a leading researcher at CBB, we observed the full process of tissue culture propagation: from sterile labs to transplant-ready saplings. The visit sparked dynamic conversations, especially between Assoc. Prof. Paron Chatakul and Mr. Apitan Lee from Thailand, who explored future research linkages in biotechnology, topical forestry, and climate adaptation.
These dialogues were further enriched by insights from Engr. Mohammed Sallam, CSO of APF, and Mr. Olarn Weranond, CEO of YAK GREEN — both of whom continually probed for possibilities, synergies, and real-world application.

### From Research to a Green Economy: Science in Motion
Our next destination was the Galeri Penyelidikan FRIM (FRIM Research Gallery) — a space that distilled nearly a century of forest science into tangible, inspiring applications. There, we explored:
* High-value timber processing
* Bio-based innovations from forest resources
* Sustainable building materials made from natural fibers
* And the rising bioeconomy model rooted in community and ecology
FRIM reminded us that forestry is no longer confined to environmental conservation. It is now part of a new, regenerative economic model, connecting people, nature, and innovation — and most importantly, doing so successfully.

### Among the Canopies: A View of the Past, Present, and Possible
One of the most powerful moments came atop the FRIM Forest Skywalk (Jejantas Rimba) — a stunning 50-meter-high treetop trail that stretched above a flourishing rainforest, once a barren tin mine nearly a century ago.
Today, towering tropical trees — some 20 to 40 meters tall — rise across FRIM’s restored forest, spanning 544 hectares in Kepong, Selangor, just outside Kuala Lumpur.
This landscape now stands as the largest and oldest man-made tropical rainforest in the world.
In 2025, FRIM’s extraordinary legacy was globally recognized when it was officially designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This achievement proves that with vision, science, and dedication, even degraded land can be reborn — not only as green space, but as a gift to future generations.

What made this journey truly exceptional was not only what we saw — but who walked with us.
Mr. Faizal Ramli, CEO of FRIM Inc., welcomed the delegation personally and guided us from the biotech labs to the canopy skywalk. His approach was not to speak of targets or business plans, but to share his genuine passion for ecological restoration — in ways that resonated with all of us.

ในโลกที่ต้องเผชิญกับวิกฤตสภาพภูมิอากาศและการเสื่อมโทรมของสิ่งแวดล้อม การ “ปลูกต้นไม้” อาจไม่ใช่แค่การปลูกต้นไม้ แต่คือการปลูกความหวัง และความยั่งยืนให้โลกใบนี้
ทั้งการแสวงหาความรู้ และพันธมิตรในการสร้างการเพิ่มต้นไม้ และพื้นที่สีเขียวให้โลกใบนี้ ถือเป็นพันธกิจสำคัญ ที่เราให้ความสำคัญเสมอมา ในการเดินทางสู่มาเลเซียครั้งนี้ ถือเป็นการเริ่มต้นเดินทางครั้งสำคัญของคณะผู้แทนจาก Arabian Peninsula Forests (APF), บริษัท ยักษ์เขียว จำกัด (YAK GREEN) และ DMELL Global สู่ FRIM – Forest Research Institute Malaysia เราได้เห็นความหวังนั้นปรากฏขึ้นจริง
จุดเริ่มต้นจากราก: วิทยาศาสตร์กับการปลูกโลกใหม่

Mohammed Sallam – CSO, APF และคุณโอฬาร วีระนนท์ คอยตั้งประเด็น ข้อสังเกต และหาความเป็นไปได้ในการต่อยอดความร่วมมือกันเสมอ
ไม่ใช่แค่ความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ แต่คือการจุดประกายแนวคิดใหม่ ๆ ในการเชื่อมโยงงานวิจัยข้ามประเทศ ทั้งในด้านพืชเขตร้อน เทคโนโลยีชีวภาพ และการผลิตกล้าไม้เพื่อรองรับความต้องการระดับภูมิภาค

วิจัยเพื่อเศรษฐกิจสีเขียว: พลังจากห้องแล็บสู่ห่วงโซ่คุณค่า
จากห้องแล็บ เราเดินเข้าสู่ Galeri Penyelidikan FRIM — แกลเลอรีแสดงผลการวิจัยที่เป็นหัวใจของการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมป่าไม้มาเลเซียอย่างยั่งยืน ภายในเราได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับ:
• การแปรรูปไม้คุณภาพสูง
• ผลิตภัณฑ์ชีวภาพจากทรัพยากรป่า
• วัสดุก่อสร้างจากเส้นใยธรรมชาติ
• และแนวคิดเศรษฐกิจชีวภาพ (Bioeconomy) ที่ยึดโยงกับชุมชน
FRIM ทำให้เราเห็นว่า “ป่าไม้” ไม่ได้จำกัดอยู่แค่เรื่องสิ่งแวดล้อม แต่เป็นโครงสร้างเศรษฐกิจใหม่ที่เชื่อมโยงมนุษย์กับธรรมชาติในแบบที่มีคุณค่าทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และสิ่งแวดล้อมไปพร้อมกัน และที่สำคัญ คือ ทำได้จริง และทำได้เป็นอย่างด"ยืนอยู่บนยอดไม้... มองเห็นอดีต ปัจจุบัน และอนาคตร่ช่วงเวลาอันทรงพลังที่สุด คือการเดินขึ้น FRIM Forest Skywalk (Jejantas Rimba) — ทางเดินลอยฟ้าสูงถึง 50 เมตร ที่ทอดผ่านเหนือเรือนยอดไม้ของป่าดิบชื้นที่ FRIM ฟื้นฟูขึ้นจากพื้นที่รกร้าง ของเหมืองดีบุกในอดีต เมื่อราว 100 ปีที่แล้ว ที่วันนี้ FRIM ทำให้เราเห็นได้ว่าธรรมชาติ และต้นไม้นี่ทั้งมีคุณค่า และทรงพลังมากแค่ไหน เราเห็นต้นไม้ที่มีเรือยอดสูงตั้งแต่ 20 – 40 เมตร หรือสูงกว่าตึก 10 ชั้นกระจายไปในทุกพื้นที่ใน FRIM ที่มีขนาดพื้นที่ทั้งหมดประมาณ 544 เฮกตาร์ (hectares) หรือราว 3,400 ไร่ ในเขตเกปง (Kepong) รัฐสลังงอร์ ใกล้กรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์ ประเทศมาเลเซีย
วันนี้ที่นี่ได้กลายเป็น “ป่าฝนเขตร้อนที่มนุษย์ฟื้นฟูขึ้นเองที่เก่าแก่และใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก” พร้อมได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนเป็น มรดกโลกโดยองค์การยูเนสโก (UNESCO) ในปี 2025
เป็นการยืนยันว่า วิทยาศาสตร์ วิสัยทัศน์ และความอดทนของมนุษย์สามารถเปลี่ยนผืนดินที่ตายแล้ว ให้กลายเป็นมรดกของมวลมนุษยชาติ
"ต้นไม้ที่เราปลูกวันนี้ อาจไม่ได้แค่ให้ร่มเงาแก่คนรุ่นเรา… แต่มันจะให้ทั้งร่มเงา และกลายเป็นสมบัติอันมีค่าแก่คนรุ่นถัดไป"
ผู้นำที่ลงมือจริง: จากห้องประชุมสู่ยอดไม้
สิ่งที่ทำให้การเดินทางครั้งนี้พิเศษยิ่งกว่าความรู้และภาพที่ได้เห็น คือ “ผู้คน” ที่ร่วมเดินทาง
โดยเฉพาะ คุณ Faizal Ramli – CEO ของ FRIM Inc. ที่ให้การต้อนรับคณะอย่างอบอุ่น และ พาเยี่ยมชมทุกจุดด้วยตนเองตั้งแต่ห้องแล็บเพาะเลี้ยงเนื้อเยื่อ ไปจนถึงยอดไม้บน Skywalk
เขาไม่ได้พูดถึงแต่แผนธุรกิจหรือตัวเลขความสำเร็จ แต่แบ่งปันวิสัยทัศน์และความหลงใหลในการฟื้นฟูโลกด้วยหัวใจ ซึ่งสอดคล้องไปกับหัวใจของเราเช่นกัน ทำให้บรรยาการศการพูดคุย ล้วนเต็มไปด้วยมิตรภาพ และการสร้างโอกาสในการต่อยอดความรู้ซึ่งกันและกัน
สานพลังจากมาเลเซีย – ไทย – สู่ GCC และโลกทั้งใบ
